PPP 41: Biblical Cosmology, Questioning the Narrative & Navigating Deception w/ Fact Hunter, George Hobbs, of The Flat Earth Files

You’re listening to the Permaculture Princess Podcast, this is episode #41.

In some ways, today is going to be a bit of a departure from our normal material. My dad actually suggested this interview, and at first I pushed back because I didn’t know if it fit my mission of creating a more abundant landscape & lifestyle. But as I listened to more of George Hobb’s podcasts, I found myself enamored with the energy and style he communicates with. I found myself listening to his varied interviews with a sense of peace and calmness, even though his topics are HIGHLY complicated and fairly controversial. I enjoy the approach he takes to both learning and sharing information. IN all my years of interacting and considering various alternative beliefs and conspiracy theories, I have never been more hesitant to share my musings than I am in this conversation. And yet, I am holding onto the words my late aunt said to me many times, “always keep your learning spirit” and to Paul who writes in the Scriptures “And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him. (1 Cor 8:2)

I identify as a truth-seeker and this podcast is a place where I get to contemplate and grapple with thoughts and beliefs out loud. I believe in the ability to consider a thought, to weigh the evidence…even for sometime, and I also believe in the ability to change our minds. Today, I am excited to introduce you to a fellow truth-seeker…the fact-hunter, and host of the unexpectedly popular “Flat Earth Files”, George Hobbs. So, take a deep breath and stick around for a conversation that may or may not blow your mind.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • A little background on George Hobbs, and what brought him to seeking facts, sharing truth, and running a flat earth podcast.
  • A bit on homeschooling and why that is an important discussion to be having in our current culture.
  • The problems or confusion with the heliocentric model, as we are taught it. How the heliocentric model supports the big bang theory and evolution.
  • Why the conversation of flat earth or Biblical cosmology matters. Why should we care about this? What does the battle between good and evil have to do with the shape of our planet?
  • Consider the tides, consider the firmament, consider gravity.
  • Consider the 2 great lights, Sun (the greater light to rule the day), moon (the lesser light to rule the night) the biblical picture does not match the idea that the moon reflects the suns light.
  • The importance of reading creation literally. (The firmament)
  • Why the terminology “flat earth” isn’t the best way to describe true Biblical cosmology.
  • Antarctic’s ice walls, and what the shape of the earth might entail. Ice walls vs land beyond?
  • Why studying the planets and the stars is worthwhile…what we can see through a telescope doesn’t necessarily match what the textbooks teach us. Shooting stars, and how far stars are actually from us.
  • How understanding Biblical cosmology helps us see more purpose in ourselves and in land ethics and taking care of the creation around us.
  • Satan is the king of deception and that is the tool he will use most often.
  • The Tower of Babel story (is NASA a modern day Babel?)
  • Abundance in health means mental, spiritual & physical health. More of George’s life perspectives of what makes an abundant life!

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:6-18
