Summary:
This is the second podcast in my health and wellness portion of the podcast, where I address various health habits that lead to a more quality life! This episode is all about taking time for morning devotions or meditation, and why this time is beneficial to our emotional and spiritual health.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
- Why morning devotion time is beneficial to setting our intentions and starting our day with productivity and purpose.
- A note of concern when comparing new age meditation to devotions.
- How I go about doing my morning devotions and some recommendations for starting your own practice.

– My Christ-Centered Meditation Podcast
– Bible: This is the one I have.
– Journal (pens/highlighters). I like to use these highlighters.
- Other Spiritual Reading materials/devotionals,
- (for the plan I have outlined, you will need this book, Steps to Christ, By Ellen G. White. This is available for purchase here, or online for FREE, here.
- Computer (optional). I love using websites like biblegateway.org or blueletterbible.org while I do devotions, to look up original words and meanings.
Pointers:
- I usually dedicate about 60 minute (1 hour) for my morning devotional time. But if you are just starting this habit, I recommend starting with 20-40 minutes.
- I spend about half my time reading and the other half prayer journaling. Some may not be a fan of journaling, and that is ok. You can absolutely pray without journaling, I just find it helps me stay focused and allows me to look back at the way God has been teaching me and working in my life.
- I do devotions in my bed, but if you are someone who struggles staying awake while in your bed, then find a quiet spot with a comfortable chair or set up camp at your desk. Wherever you choose to reside is perfect!
If you are completely new to the world of devotions, I have created a protocol for the next 21 days, while you create this habit. See the schedule below! 🙂
